At Conten we look after foreigners who work, run a business or own property in Valencia and want an accountant they can rely on year after year. We explain every step in English, file your returns on time and stay your single point of contact with the Spanish tax office and Social Security.

We focus on tax, accounting and payroll. For immigration paperwork such as the NIE or residence permits, we can point you to the right place.

What you should know

Tax residency

You are generally a Spanish tax resident if you spend more than 183 days in Spain in a calendar year, or if your main business or economic interests are here. From then on you declare your worldwide income in Spain, with tax treaties to avoid paying twice.

Beckham Law

If you move to Spain for work and have not been a Spanish tax resident in the previous five years, you may pay a flat 24% on your Spanish employment income up to €600,000 for six years. You must apply within six months of registering with Spanish Social Security.

Non-resident tax (Modelo 210)

If you own a home in Spain but live abroad, you pay non-resident income tax on it every year, even if you do not rent it out.

Assets abroad (Modelos 720 and 721)

Spanish tax residents must report bank accounts, investments, real estate and crypto held abroad when any category exceeds €50,000. The deadline is 31 March.
